Emergency & Disaster Response Planning Online
California has often been called a natural disaster theme park: fires, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis and droughts. You name it, we have it. And yes, it can happen to
your water system.
A water system emergency is any situations that causes customers to be without
water, or the water is unsafe to drink. What will you do when an emergency or
disaster strikes? Do you have a written response plan? Do you have a drought
contingency plan? Do you have mutual aid agreements in place? How will you
protect the health of your customers?
Participants in this workshop will learn:
• The wide variety of emergency situations to which California’s water systems
are exposed
• Lessons from emergencies experienced by the trainers
• How to establish effective mutual aid agreements
• How to create an emergency and disaster response plan using the Water
Board-approved template
This workshop will provide water system personnel with the information and
resources to respond preemptively and proactively to most emergency situations
