This course Improving Drinking Water Resilience through Hazard Mitigation Planning Symposium is now offered as an online two-part series, and is recommended to take both parts on same day.  Part 1 will take place from 10am to 12:00pm and Part 2 will take place from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.  Please follow the link below to register.

Taking both courses is worth 4 contact hours.

Part 1 will include an overview of the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan development process along with how to take advantage of funding opportunities. Specifically, we will talk about the financial benefits of mitigating hazards to help utilities advocate for projects that will allow for greater resilience in the face of increasing frequency and intensity of natural hazards.

Part 2 will include a speaker panel of experts from the US EPA and affiliated agencies who specialize in assisting with developing mitigation plans and strategies throughout the United States with specific emphasis on California areas and climates. Case studies will be presented from successful projects implemented in California water utilities.

Contact hours have been approved for the registered environmental health specialist program
