Accreditation:

Each two-hour module will count as 0.2 Idaho Drinking Water Continuing Education Units, attending the entire series will count as 0.6 Idaho Drinking Water Continuing Education Units.

Certificate will be awarded through AWWA.

Description:

This workshop provides an overview of Source Water Assessment and Protection, aimed specifically at small water systems. Topics covered include defining a source water protection area, identifying and ranking the potential threats, elements of a source water protection plan and pertaining to source water assessment and protection.


At the completion of this lesson, participants should have the ability to:

· Explain the importance of source water protection

·  Use your state's source water assessment program (SWAP) to evaluate your source water protection needs

·  Apply strategies and tools to improve protection of drinking water sources

·  Identify the key components of a source water protection plan (SWP) plan

·  Communicate with the public to inform and engage them in source water protection efforts
