Description:
This series of trainings will engage participants in Surface Water Protection, Arsenic Rule Compliance, and America's Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) Small Systems Resilience.
SDWA Introduction, Greetings and Pre-test
Participants will learn to:
· Describe the purpose of the Regional Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP)
· Access and obtain information from the RCAP website and identify free RCAP resources
· Access the awwa.org website and obtain information on AWWA resources available to small systems
· Present instruction of AWWA/RCAP small systems workshop lessons and facilitate workshop localization
Source Water Assessment and Protection and Post -test
Participants will learn to:
· Explain the importance of source water protection
· Use your state’s source water assessment program (SWAP) to evaluate your source water protection needs
· Apply strategies and tools to improve protection of drinking water sources
· Identify the key components of a source water protection plan (SWP) plan
· Communicate with the public to inform and engage them in source water
Pre-test and Arsenic Rule Compliance
Participants will learn to:
· Describe the importance of the Arsenic Rule in protecting public health
· Determine if a water system is in compliance with the rule
· Use proper technique to collect a sample for arsenic testing
· Communicate arsenic related information to customers
· Evaluate options for attaining compliance
· Access technical and funding guidance
Radionuclide Rule Compliance and Post-test
Participants will learn to:
· Describe the importance of the Radionuclides Rule in protecting public health
· Determine if a water system is in compliance with the rule
· Communicate radionuclide related information to customers
· Evaluation options for achieving compliance
· Locate technical and funding guidance
Pre-test, AWIA Small Systems Resilience and Post-test
Participants will learn to:
· Recall AWIA requirements for community water systems serving more than 3,300 persons
· Summarize benefits of using the RCAP/AWWA Small Systems RRA worksheet
· Describe how to conduct an effective RRA field assessment
· Identify gaps in your Emergency Response Plan
· Identify strengths and weaknesses in your system's risk mitigation practices
