Is your water system at risk of being hacked? Has your system been the target of vandalism? Protecting the public water supply from malicious attacks has become a higher priority because of increasing incidents of cyber-attacks and physical threats made to water systems. The increasing use of remote-access technology and control systems like SCADA and online bill pay systems may increase your vulnerability to becoming the target of a hacker. Planning for how to prepare, respond and recover from a physical or cyber-attack on your system is an important consideration in protecting the water supply. This course will teach you what you need to know to assess the vulnerabilities in your water system and increase information security to protect your system from a cybersecurity incident.

Participants will learn:

·        Types of security measures that can be taken to protect the water supply from threats

·        Common attack methods hackers use to target water systems

·        How to assess the risk and resilience of the water system to a cyber or physical threat

·        Components to include in an Emergency Response Plan

·        Strategies to improve information security and the resilience of the water system

·        Strategies to improve the physical security of the water system
