This training is being held in Pacific Time.

Description:

Water is a necessity of life, & it’s your responsibility to ensure your utility provides safe and reliable drinking water now & in the future. A successful water utility requires a strong long-term management plan to maintain, upgrade & replace all critical infrastructure. With utility costs always increasing, there is a high possibility your utility will need financial assistance from a state or federal agency. Do you know what funding opportunities are available for your projects or if your system qualifies for funding? This presentation is designed to help water systems develop a sustainable capital improvement plan that will prepare your utility for those opportunities. It will help you understand how census data is used to determine your utility’s eligibility for grants & low-interest loans from state & federal funding programs. This course highlights the benefits of knowing your community’s census data while planning for the future.

Participants will learn:

·        How to obtain & use census data to develop a strong sustainable capital improvement plan

·        How to avoid having to implement large rate increases to obtain funding, & what is considered an affordable rate for your customers

·        Where to find funding opportunities for your projects

·        How funders determine grant eligibility & how to use census data to determine if your service area qualifies

·        How, what, & when to conduct an income survey to determine your utility's accurate median household income

This training will be hosted online on GoToTraining.
