Date & Time:
The Introduction to Surface Water Treatment Processes training will be held on the following date and time:
August 8 | 8:30AM-3:30PM
This training is being held in Pacific Time.
Description:
Clear Lake is the largest natural lake in California and it boasts some of the state’s best fishing, water skiing and swimming in the state. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most challenging water sources in the state to treat for drinking water. Clear Lake is the drinking water source for dozens of communities in the county. Due to the shallow depth of the lake and other factors, the lake is prone to high levels of cyanobacteria, wide pH changes, manganese, turbidity and other issues.
During the morning of this workshop event we will address the treatment techniques commonly used to treat for these issues, which are common in the water treatment process.
During the afternoon we will be touring a conventional water treatment plant about five minutes from the training venue to allow the participants to actually see these treatment processes.
Participants will learn:
· The importance or peroxidation to prepare raw water for the water treatment process
· The basics of the conventional water treatment process (coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation and filtration)
· The onsite generation of sodium hypochlorite (bleach)
· Granular Activated Carbon filtration for taste and odor control
· Chemical application for corrosion control in the distribution system
This training is intended for water system managers and water operators and it is valid for contact hours for certified California operators.
