Date & Time:
The Tackling Groundwater Contamination Symposium training will be held on the following date:
November 1 | 8:30AM-3:30PM
Description:
A significant number of California communities rely on contaminated groundwater sources for their drinking water supply. To provide safe drinking water to their communities, a variety of treatment techniques must be employed depending on the specific contaminant. Some contaminants like arsenic are naturally occurring, while others like nitrates are caused by industry and development. Regardless, they need to be dealt with to protect public health. In this all-day learning event, we will provide attendees with a basic knowledge of common groundwater contaminants, their options for treatment and more affordable alternatives to treatment. Aside from a learning opportunity, this is also a great chance to meet other systems in your area who may be facing similar issues.
Participants will learn:
· The main groundwater contaminants such as nitrates, arsenic, iron, and manganese, etc.
· The basic treatment techniques such as filtration, membrane process, ion exchange, etc.
· Alternatives to treatment by diluting contaminated sources, source water protection, and regional consolidation
The recommended audience includes operators, mangers, board members, private well owners, and anyone interested in safe, affordable drinking water.
