Description:

Part 1 | This workshop provides an overview of the updated regulatory rules for distribution systems.

 

Topics covered:

·        History of public health protection

·        Distribution system health impacts

·        Revised total coliform rule

·        Groundwater rule

·        Stage 2 DBP rule

·        Lead and copper rule

 

Part 2 | This workshop covers problems with common distribution system components
(piping, valves, storage tanks, and hydrants) and how they can drastically affect water quality, focusing on disinfection by-products. Preventive actions and solutions to common problems are presented after discussing how disinfectant byproducts (DBPs) are formed.

 

Part 3 | Part 3 focuses on emerging contaminants of concern namely PFAS and manganese. This lesson examines the origin, the concern, and provides information for small systems about protecting public health.
