July 10 2:00PM-4:00PM

This training is being held in Pacific Time.

Description:

2024 is the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). This law created the first every nationwide standard for safe drinking water in the United States. The scope and level drinking water regulations adopted under the SDWA have continually expanded since the SDWA went into effect in 1977. Ever since then, water systems have faced the challenges of meeting these new more stringent drinking water requirements.

This training is intended to provide water system personnel with an overview of the newest drinking water regulations and how they might impact your water system. Many of these new regulations will be addressed in RCAC’s Summer / Fall 2024 training schedule.

Participants will learn:

·        The history of safe drinking water regulation

·        The reasons why drinking water are constantly changing

·        An overview of the newest drinking water regulations, including:

   • Hexavalent chromium

   • Cross connection control policy handbook

   • Per and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)

  • Perchlorate

  • Cyanotoxins

  • Manganese NLs and RLs

  • Unregulated contaminant monitoring rule (UCMR5)

  • Lead and Copper rule revisions and improvements

This training is a must-attend for all water system operators, managers, and board members.
