Description:
As our knowledge of the world around us increases so does our awareness of risks to our public health. Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of synthetic chemicals that are used in many products and are known to be persistent in the environment.
They are also known as "forever chemicals" because they don't break down easily. Ground water contamination can be anthropogenic in nature like PFAS or Nitrates. They can also naturally occur like Arsenic and Radionuclides. Tribal lands in Arizona can have drinking water sources that are impacted by these naturally occurring chemicals. This two-day training will cover a variety of topics related to contamination, treatment and prevention.
Topics covered:
· PFAS sources, regulations, and sample collection
· Arsenic, Nitrate, and Radionuclide Compliance
· Source Water Protection and much more
These topics will allow tribal operators to maintain compliance with safe drinking water regulations and provide safe water to their communities.
Please bring a Chlorine Residual Testing kit if available.
