Description:
Welcome to the Capacity Development Training Series for public water systems. This three-part series is designed to support the development of Technical, Managerial, and Financial (TMF) capacity in drinking water systems. Through a broad overview of key principles and practices, the series will help water systems build long-term sustainability and resilience.
Whether you're a utility manager, operator, or board member, this webinar series will provide the tools and knowledge needed to help you provide safe drinking water to your customers and ensure the resilience of your water system.
Training Objectives for this series will:
· Promote awareness of asset management planning and capacity development;
· Support general improvements in system operations, oversight, and sustainability;
· Foster coordination and communication among water system stakeholders.
Each training session is 1.5 hours in length and is tailored for water system operators, board members and decision-makers from systems of all sizes.
Session 2: Managerial Capacity
This session covers the institutional and administrative elements needed to effectively manage a water system.
Participants will learn how to:
· Leadership structures and governance roles.
· General strategies for communication and stakeholder engagement
· Planning approaches that support informed decision-making.
· Guidance on accessing and applying for state and federal funding programs
· Introduce elements of asset management planning.
Special attention will be given to small and rural systems, and strategies will be introduced for engaging the public, building partnerships and fostering trust in drinking water services.
The series impacts and aligns with states capacity development strategies.
This training series supports the broader capacity development strategy by:
· Expanding access to capacity-building resources.
· Encouraging collaboration and coordination across sectors.
· Supporting infrastructure resilience and investment planning.
· Strengthening public confidence through improved communication.
Upon completion, participants will have the foundational knowledge to strengthen their system’s TMF capacity, improve compliance outcomes, sustain safe and reliable drinking water delivery in their communities.

Capacity Building for Drinking Water Systems: Managerial training is free to attend.

To receive contact hours for online workshops, each person must be registered with their own email address. An evaluation at the end of the training is also required.
