What is a domestic water improvement district? Learn more about Domestic Water Improvement Districts (DWIDs) and their purpose, authorities, and key operational responsibilities. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how DWIDs function within Arizona’s water governance framework.
Ideal for new board members, staff, or anyone interested in forming a water district, this part of the training lays the groundwork for effective participation and decision-making in DWID operations.

· Basic board member and staff roles
· An overview of regulatory compliance
How to Form a DWID
We will focuses on the process of forming a Domestic Water Improvement District (DWID) in Arizona. We will walk participants through the legal, administrative, and community steps required to establish a DWID from the ground up.
Ideal for community leaders, residents, and local officials interested in creating a DWID, this part of the training offers practical guidance for getting started.
Participants will learn:

· Legal requirements and petition process
· Steps for community engagement and support
· Approval process through the County Board of Supervisors
