Description:
This course provides water treatment professionals with essential knowledge and hands-on skills to safely handle, store, and manage the chemicals commonly used in drinking water treatment. Participants will review workplace safety requirements, OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard, and Safe Drinking Water Act provisions, while learning to interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS), understand labeling systems, and apply spill response procedures.
Training topics include proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of chlorine, ammonia, sodium hypochlorite, coagulants such as ferric and alum, and considerations for ozone and UV disinfection. Through examples and group discussions, operators will strengthen their ability to recognize hazards, respond effectively to emergencies, and promote a strong safety culture at their facilities.
