The Cross-Connection Control Policy Handbook is effective as of July 1, 2024 and presents a compliance program requirement for all California public water systems. By maintaining cross-connection control and practicing backflow prevention, utilities ensure that the water produced and/or sold remains uncontaminated by actual or potential contaminants that may inadvertently be connected to the system. This class will cover everything from the Handbook, to what is required of a program coordinator, to conducting hazard assessments, we’ll cover what your water system needs to know to get into compliance.

Participants will learn:

·       Learning topics gathered from Trainer

·      Identify cross-connections and determine if there is an actual or potential connection

·      Assess backflow hazards and associated level of hazard

·      Understand the 10 elements of a cross-connection control program

·      Conduct hazard assessments at each service connection and determine appropriate level of backflow prevention needed

·      Establish cross-connection control program coordinator and utilize a certified cross-connection control specialist as necessary
