There are multiple documents that will assist Tribal Wastewater systems to remain healthy for many years to come. The first document is the Operations Plan, which explains to staff, Council and primacy agencies what needs to be done daily to ensure compliance with regulations. It can also be used to train and educate new personnel, existing staff and health department or EPA staff. An operations plan also requires a thorough inventory of the system, and a determination of component age and timing for replacement for said component is recommended. This is especially important for maintaining a Capital Improvement Plan and budgeting for system upgrades and improvements. Maintaining these important tools can also allow Tribal Wastewater systems to budget and be prepared for Emergency Response Planning. This preparation will be a blueprint for Tribal Wastewater system longevity.

Topics Covered:

·        Inventory of Wastewater system for the Operations Plans

·        Determining expected life and replacement costs for the Capital Improvement Plan

·        Using this document for improved Emergency Response Planning

·        Budgeting and Capital Improvement Planning
