Protecting Source Waters: Land Management and Wildfire Response Planning to Protect Drinking Water. This was originally intended as a full day, in person workshop, however due to the current COVID-19 situation it has been split into three, two and a half-hour sessions.  Participants are encouraged to attend all three sessions to receive the full benefit.

Session 1 – Planning for Wildfire:  Identify tools available for planning and wildfire preparedness. Identify risk assessment tools and other resources available to help utilities to be active participants in developing wildfire preparedness documents. The session Includes presentation on EPA’s Wild Fire Incident Action Checklist.

Session 2 – Forest Land Management:  Features presentations from U.S. Forest Service and Washington DNR professionals on forest resilience planning and management, fire management and post fire response activities. Presenters will share opportunities for utility engagement during the planning process.

Session 3 – During and After the Fire:  This session will be focused on the utility perspective, lessons learned and how to prepare for wildfire within a forested watershed. Learn about local initiatives, partnership and possible funding opportunities.
