Day 1: Distribution System Infrastructure & Water Quality

Participants will learn: 

  • Vital components of a distribution system an dhow they can impact water quality
  • Potential areas of water quality concern in systems and ways to improve them
  • What water quality parameters tell us about distribution system water quality
  • Key practices for managing water age and quality during storage


Day 2:  Disinfection & Disinfection Byproducts


Participants will learn:

  • Importance of disinfection
  • Types of disinfectants 
  • Disinfection basics (chlorination and chloramination)
  • Evaluate disinfection dosing and monitoring
  • How to optimize their effectiveness in controlling DBP formation for public health and regulatory compliance


Day 3: Controlling Lead in Drinking Water


Participants will learn:

  • Applying the regulatory requirements of the Lead/Copper Rule to your system
  • How to calculate the 90th concentration
  • Factors that will impact the release of lead and copper
  • Actions to protect consumers from lead and copper
  • New requirements proposed by the LCRR

Are you attending this training as a group and not watching from your own computer? If so, your group leader will need to inform RCAC ( about attendees who will view sessions as a group prior to session start. You do not need to participate from your own computer/device, but will need to complete an evaluation to receive credit and contact hours.
